More than just a complete lower... those $599 kits are everything you need to put together a complete rifle on your stripped lower. Since the lower is legally considered the firearm, the kit ships straight to your door.

I've been in a "wait and see" mode on the PA-10s too. For one thing they don't have any barrels I like. I do like their prices though!

Ya, the barrels are nothing too great, but do like the 16 inch. Would be great at the run and gun other than carrying the ammo.

I have a S&W AR-10 that was in that price range. Just got it back after warranty work on the barrel. Hoping to get it cut to 16 and make a battle rifle out of it.

That was a pretty quick turn around. Did they send you the heavy barrel?

I really wish we could get some standardization between brands. I hate trying to sort out what accessories I want with what is available for certain pattern AR10's.

Choice is good, but when I have to spend too much damn time figuring out if this part is for DPMS pattern rifles, or that part is only for Armalite pattern rifles, but it will work on a Rock River pattern with this other barrel nut, then I'm out until there is some standardization.

I have a DPMS LR 308 that I got from FBT. It runs OK.
It is overgassed and doesn't like surplus nato ammo.(3" groups/100yds) haven't tried any good ammo yet.
I'm working on controlling the gas and recoil now. Kicks about 2X as hard as my FAL's, which aren't bad at all.
    Litterally bruising.
Prob gonna drill the gas block and install a set screw so I can restrict the gas.
Just removed the collapsible DPMS stock(with light buffer)and installed a heavier buffer and A1 stock.

$600-$700 for a 308 AR isn't a bad price, but it would take me $300-$500 to get it where I would want it.

After all the horror stories I've read about DPMS .308's (with the exception of the the new GII) I wouldn't pay $300 for one. The new Gen II's I would definitely be interested in, sounds like they have made major changes and created a pretty good .308 platform AR.

Now if I could have whatever I wanted I'd get a LaRue PredatOBR 7.62....now that is a seriously sweet AR10 style rifle.

Uumm, Kindly educate me someone on the stretched out AR-10 verses mil spec and please define both as in:

DPMS Gen II is compatible with...
    X brand accy's, bbl, ect.

    S&W compatible with...
Z brand accy's, bbl, bbl nut, sights ect.

    Armorlite...
X & or Z brand style.. if (conditional) ect

nice chart abbreviated form like above for us will be make this a sticy material since .308 AR's are getting more popular & cost effective.

I'd take the LaRue or maybe a Knights.
