My daughter took her test almost a year ago and it wasn't on the test. She heard it's coming back sometime soon though.
Took mine in a 87 Olds Delta 88 battle ship and PP that sucker. Real easy, pull up so your rear bump is even with the bumper you are PP parking with, turn the wheel one full turn towards the curb and start backing. When your about half way into the spot straighten the wheel and adjust away from the curb as necessary. 
When my neighbor kid took it a few months back, parallel parking was not part of the driving test. He was ready for it though, his dad had worked him for several hours on it.
