They differ. I'm not a fan of them unless I'm wearing a plate carrier. Even then I wear it as high as possible

I like to run my safariland drop leg. I eliminated the top leg strap and cut the strap down that attaches to your belt. This will make it sit up a lot higher. It's a lot more comfortable this way and doesn't move around near as much.
