My wife and I are vacationing on Dauphin Island, Al. I took the opportunity to go deep sea fishing for the first time. I had a blast! The crew said the bit was slow, didn’t seem like it to me. I caught a lot of red snapper which had to be released, managed to catch a nice trigger fish. Lost one that was long as my leg with the toes straightened out, or so I’ll claim. Will definitely do this again.

I didnt catch a huge haul, a large Mahi Mahi and a sailfish, plus a sunburn. Boat took us straight to a place on Cozumel and they cooked our fish with 2 sides and a beer and I think it was $1.85. Best fish ever

Fished Laguna Madre by South Padre Island several times and for snapper at the new reef North and East of South Padre with great results.
The cold snap in South Tx a couple years ago killed millions of fish in the shallow waters of Laguna Madre.
Tx has highly modified what can be kept and what needs to be released in that area now and will modify as the population comes back.
Love deep-sea fishing. It's almost always a surprise what comes up on the end of the line. If you want a bucket list trip, go out of Venice, Louisiana. Memorable. 4 guys. Full day (6am-3p). Ran us about $750 per person, plus travel to get there and back.

I went with friends last year with Mexican Gulf Fishing and it was the best fishing trip I’ve had.
