Hell, even a jackass like Uncle Joe has a double barrel shotgun.

If you don't hunt, they're just a novelty IMHO. Although I loved the FN TPS I had, been contemplating buying another one.
I don't hunt and I don't think the ones in my house fall under the novelty category.
What do they fall under? Just to clarify I see no issue with owning guns for novelty purposes.
I would rather use an AR for HD over a shotgun but that's another thread.
Self defense. I'm not worried if you have an issue with novelty guns or not. Just relaying that outside of opinion, they are quite versatile.
They are and I don't knock what people choose to do with them. I used to have a bunch of guns that I owned just for the fun of shooting. Then I sold everything except my G19 and AR, decided I'd rather spend the money I was spending on guns for ammo and training. Funds are picking up though and I plan to pick up some novelties soon
Speaking of training, try taking a shotgun course. You'll be surprised what a well run shotgun can do.
He says "I'll never own a shotgun" then he says there are two in his house. his sons and the one his dad gave him (ergo, he is the new owner - doesn't matter if he purchased it or it was inherited. he owns it)
double speak = automatically discounted.
