I am going to plant wheat this year in a spot that I have always wanted to plant. It is a funnel between two creeks. My grandparents had wheat on it about 20 years ago when they had a dairy. Now.....The soil PH should be decent. It is rich loamy type soil. What are the odds of it growing decent with out applying fertilizer? And if I apply it and it doesnt rain fairly soon, wont it burn it up?

Usually only have to worry about liquid fert burning on already growing plants. Always fert if it needs it, but then again, you're not trying to make a harvestable crop out of it either.

Soil Ph SHOULD be decent and soil Ph BEING decent could be two different things. It is toooo easy to spend $10 on a soil analysis and KNOW what the Ph is and what fertilizer needs actually are. There is no guesswork then.
