There was a big analyst who said the recent drop was due to an inappropriate sell off and that caused enough speculation to get the market stirring again. Many sources state we currently pay a 25% premium on gas due to speculation and it's dramatic shifts and here we see it.

My guess is that gas prices will stay relatively low and really drop come august- November. My guess is OPEC wants Obama in charge because he will refuse domestic resources and will pay their asking price

Of course it's no coincidence. When demand goes up, so does price. Basic law of economics.
