Of course it's no coincidence. When demand goes up, so does price. Basic law of economics.

That same law says that prices should drop when the demand goes down, but they usually don't. I just think it's funny when 'Murrica acts surprised that gas prices go up at the same time every year.

I thought they lowered prices before Memorial day to get you to go someplace... then they raise em Sunday afternoon so they can punish us for going.

Seems like it's been SOP for at least 10 years I can remember.

No no...the fluctuation of the price of gas at the pump is the sole doings of evil Illuminati speculators (and their willing stooges the station operators), since the energy business operates by a completely different set of rules from other markets.

Or something.

Speculators only make money when they are right about which way the price of a particular commodity is going. They have just as much incentive to "make" the price go down as up.

Am I wrong?
