Thats what he gets for spooking your deer.

Coyotes aren't a game animal. You can shoot them anytime you please.

Coyotes are a game animal. Season is open year around. A general hunting license is required for shooting of coyotes. If you are trapping coyotes a general hunting license is required as well as a trapping license. Special regulations apply differently for public hunting lands.

Don't think I could shoot a coyote...Too similar to my beloved German Shepherds.

I used to have this same mind-set, as I have bird dogs that are my friends, and have always had dogs as pets.

BUT its like the difference between a house cat, and a mountain lion. One is domesticated and the other is a wild animal.

True, but unless they were attempting to fight with my dogs (Would be a very bad choice for the coyotes...) or tearing up my land i'd probably let them be. A guy I worked with's favorite pastime was shooting their legs off and torturing them. His greatest story was trapping a family of them and throwing the pups into a river in a burlap sack. He was also a fan of cage shooting animals. He kind of turned me off to the idea of coyote hunting. I'd probably have whooped his ass were we not both employees of the county sherrif.

I wouldn't care for that guy either.
