They are not bore sighting it in. They charge $15 to boresight it since I didn't buy it there. They said they actually take it and sight it in.

What are the most accurate brands? What style do you use, the bullet type?

I'm sure there are much beter, but I get the one that goes in the end of the barrell.
22-50 cal grommets , level the rifle in the gun vice, adjust the scope.
Gets close enough that 4-5 actual shots is pretty acurate.
I wouldnt hunt with it after just the bore sighting, and of course bullet weight can change it.
For pistols I can see where the sights aim, hold over on longer shots.
My son has become ,Pretty accurate with his Mosin, iron sights.
Using the bore sighter he Knows where the sights are aiming, also he has younger eyes, LOL
Not Gunsmith perfect , but it seems to work for us, and its Fun ;)

They had me drop off a full box of the rounds I would be hunting with. I can't imagine it would just be a boresighting if they were doing that. I will definately keep this post saved and let everyone know how it works.

The problem is that everyone's eyes are as different as fingerprints. After spending 3 weeks calibrating a compound microscope for research during my days in a cytogenetics lab, I fully understand that each person will have to readjust / tweak their scope depending on the ammo, environmental conditions, etc. No matter how good a sighting service is, there will still be some tweaking to mate the shooter with the rifle and scope and ammo.
