We had one on the back porch last night. Made the mistake of being seen by the dogs. Our Great Pyrenees grabbed him and it was over.
I’d only mess with one of them if it was in my chicken coop. Otherwise I just let them do their thing.
yep, Rat Snake. Learn all ' bad boys' from your area.....around here it's just a few--Pygmy Rattler, Diamond back, Timber, Copperhead, Water Moccasin---let all the others go. Now, I do destroy the rat snakes that find the chicken coop.

I would say it is a great plains rat snake.

If you can't laugh at yourself... You've got no business laughing at others.
If you kill the non venomous ones without specific cause, you’re just removing competition for the ones that are an actual threat to you.
