i drive the roll pin threw the trigger guard before i install it , makes easier the 2nd time, dont like how hard i have to hit it first time driving it in on the receiver, saw one on here with broken ear,
That's caused by not supporting it when you drive it in. I don't like the trigger guard roll pin either. I've never put one together that wasn't tighter than heck.
that is why i prefer the billet lowers that are machined with the trigger guard already on it as a 1 piece lower.
Trdoc, you don't need a vise.
1/2 in. thick block of wood under the bottom ear.
You can press the roll pin in with a vice too. Just make sure you use a soft jaw on the side that supports the receiver. Then just finish it off with a punch and hammer.
To me the ridiculously high cost of billet lowers is not attractive. I understand why they are expensive, but I don't think it's worth it for the benefits. If I break the ear off and buy another lower, I am still way cheaper than any billet lower I've come across so far.
Some of the billet lowers still require a trigger guard and roll pin too.
