I have a 1951r russian sks that still has some cosmoline in it. How much is it worth?
Me? I would go to an online site that sells guns such as Gunbroker and I'd look at others as well.
Crying shame, as it appears the top cover was replaced with a 1951 Tula cover; the rifle looks like a '54 Izhevsk refurb, and that mismatch just gave the value a bit of a hit. Russians are now selling in the $600 area give or take; had it been an all-matching "Izzy" it would have been a bit more - quite a bit more if it was a matching non-refurb (not X'd out original serial on the stock, etc.). Still a very nice rifle, but its collectibility is diminished. I'd still say $500-$600.
Question is: is the top cover a replacement, or the stock? Could have been a Tula rifle all along, with a force-matched Izhevsk replacement, but I think it's the top cover that got swapped.
I'll agree with cjj, $500+.
all the metal parts match. No XX. The stock has XX then the serial number that matches.
BTW I have never fired it, I bought it under the Obama scare and the previous owner said it was un-fired (after refurb. I put it for trade on armslist and people are asking me about cash price. So I am not looking to gouge, but I would rather trade.
Yeppers 550 is about right
Thank you everyone. I put it at $575 on armslist as allot of people offer less. I will post here as well.
