Opening day was going to be very windy for gun season.
I have many calibers to choose from. I did not know If I was going to hunt the open fields or heavy brush.
I hunted both and did not like the idea of heavy winds blowing the shot.
I chose the 30-06 over my other guns.
So I suppose if I had to choose 1 gun the 30-06 would be it. Only because I have nothing faster that shoots heavy bullets
My choices were 223 and 308 20.5" barrel a 243 and my old 30-30.
The 30-06 has 4.8" less drift with my loads at 200 yards than my .223.
One friend took his 300 win mag. he has a 338 Lapua and a 50 .. saving it for later.
