They are really good nuiscance-eaters. We have CONSIDERABLY less flies and bugs on the front porch since our two spiders have shown up. They will take their webs down and rebuild them daily.

If it makes noise, it's a Rattlespider
If it doesn't make noise, it's either a Black Widow or a Brown Recluse

All three deserve to die by fire... it's your only remedy.

we always have lots of em. had one on our front porch this year over a seldom used set of steps near the front door. she made one egg sac and shrunk considerably in size. i assumed she'd die but a couple weeks later she made another. i liked having her around to catch things before they made it into the house. i even went so far as to put obstacles in front of the steps to keep people from bothering her. bet she's over 3"

i have the same policy with spiders as i do with snakes. if it can hurt me it dies. if it cant hurt me and is beneficial, it can live. (unless its a snake that sneaks up on me then i tend to forget to identify first)
