Sigh ... I love my dogs more than most people but no. My dogs don't need a cross country road trip to be happy. They are like their mom -- a drive around the lake is about as long as any of us want to be in the car in any 24-hour period.
A dog lays on the floor and if a human is careless enough to step on their tail they yelp in pain and then come to you as if to apologize for being in your way.
I lost my best buddy a few year ago. My second best buddy is at home not eating because I'm away. Trying to get me wife put a darn pink shirt on her and bring he up and leave her. I've had two great dogs visit my room, the past two days. Got to play/pet/let them on my bed for about an hour each. VERY COOL.
Very cool of the volunteers that bring the dogs up too. Thanks.
We didn't make the trip special for our Brittney that we had to put down last month, but we knew months ahead he was terminal with a growth between his lungs and a heart murmur that got worse with time. He went with us to New Mexico, Colorado and Utah during the summer, and finally a life of luxury in the final weeks.
As empty nesters, our dogs have become pseudo children to be pampered. Losing one is like losing a family member because they are family.
