DUNCAN Authorities say a Stephens County detention officer was taken to a hospital after inmates started a fire at the county jail.
Sheriff Wayne McKinney says the fire started Monday night when several inmates put toilet paper in a light fixture. The sheriff tells a local television station that the fire grew after inmates put clothing and other items into the blaze.
McKinney says the fire filled the jail with smoke. The inmates were moved to another part of the facility as firefighters extinguished the blaze.
McKinney says one jailer was taken to a hospital in Duncan after he was overcome by the smoke.
