It takes more practice to shoot a double-action revolver well than a 1911 pistol in my experience. I'd also prefer the 45acp round (not a huge 357mag fan).

Cocking the hammer for every shot on a revolver doesn't count and isn't applicable in many defense situations. GOOD DA revolver shooting is almost a dying art IMHO.

1911 shoots much easier than a revolver.... 1911 just points better. but that could be said, 1911 against most any pistol.

my gold cup 1911 has never jammed. but many hours spent stoning every friction point, ramp polished, trigger reworked etc, etc.

revolvers still has it's place with the smallest packages and largest calibers. DA revolvers makes the best CCW... my EDC is a 340PD with +P or .357. many hours also spent reworking 340PD's trigger... smooooth double action.

revolvers still makes the most sense for largest calibers like 44mag, 454, etc. vs a monster sized pistol like a desert eagle.

OKIDOKI, Either will get the job done, both the .45ACP an .357Mag are both known manstoppers, now for those who keep a .357Mag as their HD gun an have never fired a .357Mag in anger, I would suggest that you download that blaster to a .38spl+P. The concussion and over pressure created by the .357Mag. can and will be damaging to your ears, and to anybody else that resides in your home. Yes the .45acp will still hurt, but as with the .38spl+p it is subsonic, and the issues of concussion and over pressure are alot less so the effects of damage from each is less.

Depending on the size of the room/shooting area the .357Mag/ .44Mag, and even some 9MM rounds have been known to rupture eardrums, or cause sever hearing loss.
