Or you can take the assignment for what it is and just ace it.
Then write and alternative paper and do what ever you think you want to with it.
You can play the game and still be true to yourself, just view the assignments as assignments and not attacks on your personal philosophy, no matter how odious they are.
But when you discuss the assignment with your peers, be able to defend your position, because you will be attacked.

And to actually answer your question, no, I don't remember having a teacher like that.

One more bit of advice, I don't think they test OSA members for intelligence, so take our advice at your own risk. The one thing most of have managed to accomplish is living this long in spite of what we do, did or did not do.

I always hated the art teachers that wanted an assignment done a certain way... "Art is this way, not that way"... Man my art teachers hated me.
Do what you want with the paper, just accept the grade regardless when it comes back.

I dunno, isn't your freshman year the year grades start counting for something to colleges?
I say ace it and reap the rewards. But crap, I've always been a sell out.

That sucks. I had my fare share of liberal teachers. My favorite teacher was an extreme liberal but never tried to change the classes political beliefs. We would even jokingly call each other names, I was a right wing extremist/birther , and he was a communist/socialist. If the work is supposed to be opinionated then share your opinion. If it is supposed to be based on facts then show the facts. There is nothing wrong with differing with a teachers beliefs. Does your teacher lecture the class and preach liberal stuff? If so then why dont you raise your hand and politely disagree and state an argument, I used to do that several times a day. Whatever you do though, be polite and professional so that you can be taken seriously.

I had that one liberal, black, history teacher that was always trying to make us see things his way. I used to think that he was doing it just to mess with us and that he was such a pansy and basically was about everything I wasn't. I though he was the kind of guy that would stand by and watch as a woman was raped because the rapist had the right to his freedoms of happiness, too. One day my sophomore year, we had a crazy, gay, female student bring a gun to school and shoot up lockers, vehicles, etc. (no people). She was mad cause the popular cheerleader turned down her advances. Guess who stepped up and tackled her and took the gun away.... Yep, the liberal history teacher. It made me realize that just cause he say some things differently didn't mean that he was a bad guy. I also started listening to him more and also realized that just cause he was liberal didn't mean that he was wrong about everything. I also realized that he was just showing us another point of view and not telling us that his way was the only way.

My advice is to do the assignment and compare and contrast the two different viewpoints. It doesn't mean you believe in one or the other. It will help you step back and consider others opinions before making up your own mind.
