Little help identifying S&W Model

This is my father-in-law’s, handed down to him from his dad. I’m not sure what model it is but told him I might know who does. Any help appreciated.

Yeah, REALLY good shape considering it's probably 70+ years old. It obviously spent it's entire life in a nightstand or sock drawer.

That’s a nice one. It’s a K-38 or Pre Model 10, 5 screw. They don’t make em like that anymore….

Thank you all! He asked me what it is worth. I think he is just wanting to know the value of what he’s passing in to his grandson. I had no idea what to tell him, not even knowing the model. You’ve given me what I need. Thanks!

As others have said, it's a pre-model 10..
