I had a similar thing happen to me a few years ago. I have a signature at the bottom of my work email that reads...
If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you're reading it in English, thank a soldier.
My boss told me to remove it because it's inappropriate. I asked him how. He said because we have some students here of different nationality, and it could offend them.
I told him to go pound sand. There is nothing offensive about my signature. If anything, I'm promoting literacy and patriotism. If our international students have a problem with America, then maybe they should return to their country and take their classes online.
The signature is still there.
