338 Norma mag is the caliber the General Dynamics new machine gun is chambered in. Supposedly the cartridges shape works better in belt fed and mechanical ammo feed setups. I read about it in Popular Mechanic mag in the Doctor's office waiting room

This has been in the works for quiet sometime. I bet the budget get pull back so they can spend some more monies in CRT training.
