I'd like to have a copy of that book. And I have a large-format scanner...

Personally, if I were to get an AR/M-16ish rifle, I'd want to have steel and wood for it, too. Someday, maybe. I have here, a 1903 Springfield that someone sporterized very nicely long ago and far, far away, and in another universe. I've considered rebuilding it to the 1903 Springfield milspec... And I'd put the National Ordnance action on the sporterized barrel... A good how-to book can be read in reverse, after all. -

I'm profoundly ashamed by the mil-surps I butchered in the early 60's,,,
An Enfield .303, a K98 Mauser, a Carcano carbine, and a 7.7 Japanese.

Mostly it was just cutting the stock down,,,
The rifles were cheap enough,,,
Most under a twenty.

But cash for a gunsmith to cut a barrel down,,,
And replace the military sights with new,,,
Well that was far and few between.

I finally wised up and stopped chopping the guns up,,,
Back then it wasn't hard to find used stocks,,,
I put the Enfield and K98 back to original.

The only modification I did was,,,
Strip the wood and give it a quality oil finish.
