Mounting a red dot on a S&W

I'm wanting to get one of the small red dot sights for my S&W 617, and would like advice on mounting it. Don't want a high profile picatinny set up, but something that will keep the sight as low as possible. Is there something like a plate with pre-drilled holes to line up with the S&W holes?

Early or late S&W? Late ones will have three holes in the top strap, it uses a mount like this. That's probably as low as you are gonna get without hand fabricating something and even if you do, you will probably only gain 1/8" or so...
