On the other hand, I hope there was something fatally wrong with that A3 - otherwise someone spent a few hundred bucks turning a $600 collectible into another $200 bolt gun.

Nikat, I bet there are some guys who get upset over sportized AR-15s.

Its sad in some ways to see old guns turned into sporters but I think it probably helps the collector's market. Those old rifles used to be cheap and plentiful. Who would have thought people would hundreds or thousands of dollars on an AK47 varient.

I mean, I wouldn't take a genuine '03 sniper and sporterize it, but then, I'd have no qualms sporterizing a poor condition one.

I wonder what people will say 20 years from now when they see all the sporterized Mosins? "Oh the noes! Panic!"
