Hey Guys, I just ran across a Model 1911A1 marked "U.S. Gov't property" on the left hand side and "Remington Rand" as the manufacturer on the right side. The lettering and checkering are still sharp, the rails don't show any major wear, and the pistol is tight, but it is nickel plated.
Did they build any nickel plated pistols under government contract, or did some bonehead screw up a good, original by doing an after market job on it?
Any help will be greatly apreciated, and will have direct impact on how or if I trade for it.
