A peltier cooler is basically a device that when you run dc current between a couple ceramic plates one side gets cold the other gets warm. Think of the "coolers" that heat or cool made by coleman you can pick up at walmart. The opposite is also true, heat one side and cool the other and you can create electricity. If you need more power you can stack and wire in series, apply heat to one side and put a pc heatsink on the other.
