I know the 4 inch pistols will fit, but I couldn't stand it and would be confused whether to spend my money on more holsters or ammo.

why would they bother with steel rails in an alloy frame.? the alloy frame rails hold up fine. Nobody's going to be shooting a 3" .45 much and if they do, they can afford to replace a $200 frame every 10,000 rds, since that's $3000 worth of ammo (minimum)

I don't know of any manufacturer who uses steel rails on the alloy framed guns. The only change or use of steel or other material to alloy frames I am aware of is the use of a titanium or steel insert on the ramp of some pistols, like the Ruger SR1911 LW CMD in .45ACP. The same gun in 9mm, like the one I just got, uses a ramped barrel rather than an insert; and it works just fine.
