So I Just Got Back From Octoberfest And There Was A Large Sign Stating No Weapons. This Event Is Put On By The City Of Tulsa With Private Sponsers And Had A Large Police Presence But Is outdoor with Tents. The Guy(not A Cop) Ask If I Had Any Knives When I Entered And I Answered "nope". So Here's The Question! If I Was Carrying An Hkp30 At That Event Would It Have Been A Felony If I Stayed Out Of The Tent? Could They Only Have Ask Me To Leave? Or Could I Have Been Arrested? This Is All Ofcourse In Theory.

I personally wouldn't carry there, but that's because I would be enjoying a few adult beverages there and getting drunk and carrying is against the law.

Also, does the "51% of sales from alcohol" keep you from carrying there? I know it's technically outside, but it's not a case that I would want to try and make if need be.

Oktoberfest is the correct spelling. It is put on by Volunteers, a core of about 100 and the help of about 2200 more that work the festival. Oktoberfest does have 2 full time employees. It is on City owned property, Riverwest Park and serves alcohol. Alcohol is permitted anywhere inside the perimeter of the festival. There are private sponsors but all of the proceeds goes to Riverparks.

As to your questions:
1. Certainly you could have been charged. Would it stick? That's up to 12 of your peers.
2. Yes and they would have or maybe have called the police to help you leave.
3. Yes, see #1.

I did see one person that did have a weapon on them, I did not say anything because he was with BACA and he was not drinking. If I would have seen anyone drinking and carrying, I would have reported it to the Police.

I was asked if I was carrying any guns or knives, the person was not a police officer, they noticed the pocket clip of my gerber paraframe clipped in my pocket and told me take it back to the truck or throw it away, I never went all the way back to my truck, you may infer from that statement what you wish, they also asked to check my wifes purse, she opened the main compartment of her CCW purse, not the hidden end pocket, again infer from that what you want. I will not be attending Oktoberfest again.

My first wife and I were mugged and beaten in '91 on our way back to our vehicle at 7pm in the evening leaving Oktoberfest.

Sadly the areas surrounding that event are not pleasent and police can not be everywhere. If I hadn't promised my son we would go I would have told them to get stuffed.

I visited no alchohol vendors areas where the primary source of their income was from alchohol sales, didn't even get a wrist band.

That property is a city park, the way I see it I was out for a stroll in the park.

When they assign me my own personal police officer to walk around with me and escort me to and from my vehicle I may reconsider returning.
