overall opinion about Charter Arms?

I have one and so does my mom. I have heard both good and bad. Now I would like your opinions on these revolvers.

Certainly not top of the line.
But for someone who's not going to go out and try to wear it out they are decent.
If you're looking for a gun to use fairly regularly it might not be the best choice.

I have always had good luck with the older models (with out the shrouded or full lug barrels).

My dad had a bulldog that he babied. Never shot it. I took it out and shot 100 rounds of American Eagle through it, FTF almost every 20 rounds. Every brand has lemons though.

Chapters are little workhorses , treated like a redheaded stepchild by most. i love my bulldog 44spl

I had a 44 spl. Bulldog about 18 yrs. ago and something broke inside so that it wouldn't fire.(can't remember what broke) I gave it away.

I think it should probably be pointed out that the company went through different ownership groups, and I had thought the internet urban legends said that the quality varied a lot depending on which ownership group was in charge of manufacturing them.

My experience; I had a bulldog in 44spl that I carried for a good 10 years.
Shot the crap out of it. Traded it for a stainless model that I carried for another 10 years and didn't shoot quite as much. Both performed flawlessly.
But as stated there are some lemons out there. If I had one that I carried now I would shoot it enough to feel it was okay and then not worry about it. I mean you have a chance of anything failing. Their mechanical and so there's a chance any might have a problem.
