I've never had good luck with them...
I know they are great, but you have to hit them right. Seems like every time I found a good persimmon patch, I'd keep an eye on it and see they are ripe then a few days later I'd go back to hunt and they'd already be wiped out and bare lol.
Day late and a dollar short

But if you find them and hit them on that magic day or so...

None out here where I'm at. Can still remember the taste of an unripe one as a kid like it was yesterday though!:)

My neighbor's persimmon trees have been dropping their loads for a few days now. My dogs like to eat the fruit.

We have a very large pear tree that my late father in-law grafted with several persimmon limbs and both the pears and persimmons are dropping now and there is a big doe with two small spotted fawns that frequent that tree several times a day. They can't keep up with the pears but they sure are enjoying all those persimmons....
