Removing paint from a rifle.

I am wanting to strip the paint off of a rifle and get it back to factory blue steel. Not so much concerned about the stock but the metal (barrel, receiver, etc...). Acetone and thinner come to mind but I would like to hear from those who have done it before and what kind of success you had.
The paint is most likely Krylon and not Duracoat.

As long as you're sure there are no aluminum parts, good old spray stripper will do it pretty much in one pass. Acetone or thinner will do, just takes longer. You'll want to soak crevices (barrel/receiver junction, etc..)
