I want to get one, I like tactical type of weapons, I'm not a hunter. What do you all have or recommend? I know it's kinda a vague question, but I have zero experience with these. I would say a budget of $1000 or less. Opinions please!!

My dad and I are die hard 1100 fans, hard to beat em... but they can be problematic. They need really good form for cycle 100%...

I'd +1 for the versa max. Also the Benelli Nova

1100's are hard to beat, and the price is affordable.
I've got two. The 12 ga used to be my trap gun. Very reliable as long as you keep the gas seals up to snuff. The other is a LT-20 for a dove gun.

If you want something tactical and you're not going to hunt with it, take a look at the Saiga 12. It's based off the AK 47 receiver and you can customize it as you see fit. I added a quad rail, pistol grip and folding skeleton stock on mine and it's a blast to shot with a 12 or 20 round mag.

Here's some more info:

You can even turn it into a bullpup:

I would buy one, if it was 6 months ago. I don't mind paying a little extra for stuff, but I won't pay stupid for it.

I haven't priced them lately, how much are they going for? I got mine at Sooner State Pawn, you might see what they can do for you.

For tactical do you mean home defense or 3 gun.

semi auto can jam. pumps have a very low probability of jamming. i like pumps for home defense.

do you need a semi-auto?

for me, a shotgun whether a $450 tactical or a $150 pump is going to shoot the same pattern ( when using the same shell and same choke). the bells and whistles on the tactical i think are over rated except maybe a flash light. trigger is not a big deal on a shotgun like a pistol. in other words you can protect yourself just effectively with a $170 gun as a $500 gun (pump) much less paying $750 for a semi. just my opinion. i would rather spend my money on a better pistol.
