Mostly ejectors worn out/broken and shell holders not holding shells in the mag.

That's interesting, and good to know.

I have never had any problems with the 1100s I have owned, but they have all been '70s and '80s models, if that makes any difference.

From being shot 10 cazillion times with the owners not knowing how to maintain the firearm.

Putting the gas ring on upside down, cracked orings etc.

I can't tell you how many I've fixed on the trap range with a simple O ring, and cleaning.

That's kind of what I was thinking.

Anything will wear out if it is used or abused enough.

First thing to fail on lots of guns is the ejector if its used enough.

Dirt, gum, improper lubrication, tons of things can cause failure.

The 1100 is arguably the most popular semi auto shotgun in history.
It stands to reason its also the most likely to fail by virtue of its popularity.

20 million 1100's out there.
500,000 Benelli M2's.
Which one are you going to hear the most about when it comes to malfunctions?
