A buddy and I went to Fouled Bore today to do some long range shooting. Most of my shooting for several years now has been from my dad’s farm where we can only get out to around 750 yards or my uncles farm where we can shoot to about 920 yards and all of it is from an exposed area in the hot sun.
Fouled Bore has a very nice set up you can shoot from in the prone/sitting position and never be exposed to the hot Oklahoma sun. You can post targets up at 100 yards to zero your rifle and there are steel targets from 200 yards to 1350 yards in 50 yard increments from the same shooting position.
They charge $30 to shoot all day and we were there from 9:00-3:00. Naturally while we were there we had a few yahoos come in and shoot their 9mm pistols at the 100 yard zero targets.
Still we had a good day shooting. Winds were from the 11:00 at 10 to 16 mph but we were still able to connect on targets out to 1200 yards. We were shooting an AIAW in 308, M70 in 7wsm, and a Tikka T3 CTR in 260.
If you’re able, give Fouled Bore a try and please, please police your brass, especially gas gun shooters. We don’t want it to end up looking like Banner range one day.
