Calling it the Rust Runner, lol.

Wanted to try a heavy project so, found this thing. Needs a lot of work, but I'm excited to jump in. Right now just been cleaning it up, vacuuming it out, etc. Was originally a 383/Auto car, I have a 440 and auto for it once it gets to that point.

For how long it's sat, I don't feel like its horrible, and everything is available. It'll get rear quarters, trunk, and floor replaced everything else is pretty solid.

Been told it was scrap or I was an idiot more than a few times over this lol. Sat in the woods about 25 years.

It will be $$$. Parts are available, but not cheap.

Good news is , rebuilt and it's $$$$$$

Superbird is my grail, if I ever hit lottery.
I had a '71 Roadrunner 440, should have never sold it, but new baby and 7mpg didn't make a good match up.

Not an expensive project if you are thrifty.
I have never had more than 4500 in any car I have put together but i am not the guy to buy repo parts either I can fix the original stuff most of the time.
I have repaired worse 1/4's than that with aluminum or steel sheets and fiberglass.

I would leave the body alone on the outside and just fix holy floors if it was mine and drive it.
Interior and undercarriage and engine and engine compartment would be very nice though.

What color is inside the engine bay under the hood? MOPAR always shot their bay the same color as the car unlike Ford and GM shooting it black.

The nostalgia is killing me!

My first car (bought new in November of 1967),,,
Was an Electra Blue 1968 Road Runner.

Man was that car a basic automobile,,,
Nothing luxurious about the dang thing at all,,,
Maybe I got a lemon but some little thing was always breaking.

I was driving down the road one day an an awful noise started coming from the engine compartment,,,
Turns out it was the long bolt that held the alternator in place.

The bolt backed out but couldn't fall free because it was impacting the radiator fan,,,
It was an easy fix with a lock nut to hold it in place,,,
But still, it shouldn't happen to a new car.

That was just one of the many many irritating things that went bad on that auto,,,
The electrical system was the flimsiest thing ever to come out of Detroit.

But,,, It did have two good points,,,
Even though it was a big clumsy block of a car,,,
The dang thing was a veritable Chick-Magnet and it was FAST!

I broke it in o one long highway drive,,,
Then that very weekend I took it to the drag strip,,,
That Road Runner 383 and that huge Borg Warner 4-speed,,,
Turned a 13.98 Elapsed Time.

As I got better driving I was able to shave another few tenths off the time.

This isn't a picture of my Bird but it's exactly what mine looked like,,,
It's dry weight was 2,800 lbs and I paid $2, 810 dollars for it,,,
Just a fraction of a penny over $1.00 per pound.

Three years of mowing lawns, babysitting, and anything else I could think of to earn the cash for it.

The Nostalgia is thick in my room right now.
