Pecan is all we use for main fire and add peach and cherry sometimes.

I've used oak but never silver maple. Sounds interesting. What do you use it for, beef, poultry, pork or all the above?

Hickory or oak is all I use now. If you want some hickory let me know Gadsden.

You do not get that with red oak.
I do love Hickory also I would take @CanadianRiverRat up on trying some if you have not.

Apple and peach did not thrill me in the least and I have had those trees to cut from.
I do not like mesquite very much and it is especially bad on pork.

Pork needs Oak or Hickory at least in my book.

You might check around Stratford they had a lot of Peach trees down over the winter and spring. Sorry, I don't have any numbers for ya, but it made the news about it. Good luck and happy hunting
