So, I took off for 3 weeks. First time in... I dunno, evar. So I spent... I think 16 days in the islands. We went to Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, where my wife was born and raised. She's been back every 2-3 years or so, but I haven't been there in 13 years, so I wanted to make it a big deal. It takes 2 days flying each way, overnighted in Fort Lauderdale. So I didn't want to do a 7-10 day trip and end up spending half of it traveling. It meant working my butt off to get the time off, but I am glad we did it. Best vacation I've ever taken, and I will be doing it again, for sure.
So here are a few pics... I just finished 4 nights in a row at work, so I don't have time or energy to post very many, but I will add a few here and a few there over the next few days. So here's the first batch, with some small explanations.
This is a place called Flowt (like float), a beach bar owned by one of my wife's friends from high school. The name is a play on his upstairs nightclub in town called Flow, and they have another bar up on a hill called Flyt, I think. This was our first stop after I got off the plane - The Wife and The Boy had already been in town for 4 days, so they felt sorry for me having to travel for 2 days all alone, sleep in the rental car center at the airport, etc.
Few days later, we took the ferry over to Bequia, another island, and we stayed 3 nights in a bungalow right off this beach, which is called Lower Bay, in Bequia.
Unfortunately, I think it was this stay that caused me a significant amount of problems later on, as you might infer from the title... lol.
Also in Bequia, this is Princess Margaret Beach in Port Elizabeth. We did some diving... my son Ian is doing his Captain Morgan impression.
On a catamaran cruise to the Tobago Keys, where a large amount of filming in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies was done.
Ten images per post is the limit, so I think I'll stop after 10 for this morning, I think.
This is Mayreau, another stop on the catamaran tour, and coincidentally, my favorite place on Earth.
Just over about a 30-foot strip of land, the calm side is above, and this is the windward side -
And the family:
More pics later today or this evening. It's Scotch-thirty and time to hit the hay.
Later... as a teaser, I'll eventually be getting to pics of our tour of Tommy Hilfiger's house we visited in Mustique. Impressive, to say the least.
