something I learned tonight....evidently fish sleep

Been trying to net some big gold fish in one of my Koi type ponds to move to another that had been drained and cleaned. For a day and a half been using 2 large nets to net what looked like relaxing fish only to be foiled everytime. Tonight with my hat light I passed by the pond and there were 2,,,, must have been asleep they hardly moved.

I think it was Jaque Custeau that discovered some breeds of shark actually sleep at night which was against every known "fact" at that time.
I had a fan tailed comet fish pond at one time. It got to be such a PITA to clean in the fall that I filled it in. Plus, the cranes found it and were eating the fish before they could mature. Protected critters so I couldn't shoot them.
