Picked up this beautiful sporterized Springfield 1903 manufactured by Remington in the 40’s and it looks really nice and I want to use it for a hunting rifle but…. there are no tapped holes for a scope mount. Here’s the dilemma, I can either use it with iron sights and get accustomed to that or I have it drilled and tapped and put on a scope mount. What do you guys think? I’m slightly leaning toward just using it with iron sights but I want other opinions or options.. thanks

Is it a 1903 or a 03A3? Kinda would help seeing pictures of the rifle but that said. If the barrel hasn’t been cut or altered I’d put it back to….well at least looking original which I’ve done to a couple Springfields. If it has been cut I’d go ahead and drill and tap if you like. Just my two cents.

cut the barrel at 18" and throw it in the trunk of your car since everyone here will tell you it'll make a good trunk gun!!!😇
