Have you seen the Excel Arms XR 30. It takes GI carbine mags but that is the only thing that is M1 carbine about it. It looks like an AR. It is blowback operated instead of gas.

Actually rather like the way those look much better than the typical AR style rifle.

I must be in the minority here. I absolutely love my ar-15. But that turnbull monstrosity?!?!?!?!? They ( moss berg I think) makes a tactical version of a lever action too, with an AR adjustable stock, and picatinny rails. Neither one is pretty, or really "useful". AR's, FALs and G3's should be black ( or OD or FDE), lever guns and colt 1873 should have wood and be case color hardend, and garands and 1903's and m-14's should be wood stocked and parkerized. That turnbull looks like a shaved cat! Someone said a long time ago, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
