Taxes coming, need opinions from u guys familiar with 1911's

Im looking to spend $1000 or less and plan to get a new 1911. What can I get that is very reliable and the best bang for the buck. This will be primarily for home defence and range fun. Thanks in advance! Interested in full size and compact models.

Im no expert...but, for the $$$ I like the Springfield range officer.

I am no expert on 1911s but I'd buy a Colt. I'm just a traditionalist I suppose.

I have been very happy with my Kimber custom II. I wish the Springfield RO had been available when I got mine because I also think it looks like a great value.

I know Springfield can be had for a decent price, not sure on colts but I'd love to have one.

The Springfield RO will probably be my next purchase, 1" groups at 20yds right out of the box for $800-$900 isnt bad

I love my Springfield range officer. I also have a stainless colt xse. I had a magwell and bumped grip safety put on at the colt custom shop. I must admit as much as I like the colt. The Springfield is my favorite

I have had my Colt Defender going on for 13 years now, and its been a great gun!!
