We can't wait!!! We've already got it planned out, we're moving to Las Vegas. I have taken the Nevada State teaching certification(I have several degrees in science) and might teach science. Since I have a passenger and a class A CDL......I will more than likely drive a shuttle from a casino to the airport and back, to get casino guests.

My wife has looked into card game schools and will learn to deal card games. Maybe restaurant help in a casino??? Some type of work in a casino for sure.

We have even looked at several places to live in LV and will have to decide between a home or condo....leanimg toward the condo. I'll have some sort of jeep to drive out into the desert and mountains. That's our plan for retirement amd for the last 5 years...were sticking to it!!!

Haha! We have a plan too. It does not require me to deal with a constant companion for another 10 years. (OK, 15 if I can talk him into it! ;) ) No where in that plan was there any contingency for him staying home for nearly a month and a half before then ... :eek2:

I do realize that at some point in time I am gonna have to shake off this "hermit" thing I like to do ... but I'm not ready ... yet ... I need more time!! The stress is just too much!! :crying::rotflmao:

David retired eleven years ago this August :woohoo1: I guess the best thing is that I still like having him underfoot and he's not tired of my cooking yet.

I tried the "planned retirement activities" thing within the first couple of years. Two big problems: he hates to sit still and he hates to travel.

So he does what he wants when he wants and so do I. We're both pretty good at staying busy. We meet at the table for 2 meals every day and compare notes. It gives us stuff to tell each other. It also makes anything we go do together a special event.

Make plans... then don't feel bad if you find you're happiest just going with the flow.

Oh, YEA!! I was hoping you'd stop by, Maggie!! :haay:

In all seriousness if there was anybody I "had" to spend my days with I can't think of a finer feller than GC ... But one can only watch so much COPS and Bait Car and Hardcore Pawn and Nancy Grace before they start looking for things to do without their significant other ... God bless him ... :rotflmao::rotflmao:

I never got to meet his dad but rumor has it he is a chip off the old block! :rotflmao: I can only imagine ... :eek2:

Oh ... and he says he'll be watching this thread for ideas on how to control unruly wives ... sheesh ... no sense of humor sometimes ... Must be the JBT in him!! ;)

One of you needs a man cave. David watches a lot of tv as well, mostly politics and cartoons (two sides of the same coin LOL.) It's too hot for him to go outside for very long. So I'm at the other end of the house doin' my own little thing. Trust me, absence does make the heart grow fonder, even in the same house!
I thought you were going to New Mexico for a while.

Not til the spring. He'll be in "use it or lose it" again by then and he'll HAVE to take off. I'm not really sure what happened with the schedule this time but I CAN say without a doubt it wasn't because they were doing him any favors. My guess is he'll have a really stinky schedule in September. I cannot tell you how many times we have had plans and had to chance them because "the department has needs" ... As the brass is fond of saying right before they bend you over, "Welcome to the Highway Patrol!"

It's funny, I was talking to my wife last night about how I really wish we could be with each other all the time. She's my very best friend and I can't think of anything I like doing that is more fun without her.

Good Lord you guys and your "my wife is my best friend" comments. I adore GC with all my heart but if I wanted someone underfoot all the time I'd have more kids ... :slap:

He'd never admit it but I've seen that look in his eye ... You know ... the one that says "Really?? You can't just shut up and go to bed so I can have some peace and quiet??" :crying:

You have jobs, a daughter, and lots of demands on your time. Getting together alone is a challenge and a sweet reward. As it should be for young couples because that's how you build the secret story of your marriage...one memory at a time.

When you are literally together 24/7 it's a challenge to find things you haven't experienced together. And you need that to keep life fresh and interesting. It's not that I want to do things without him. It's doing some things alone so we still have the sense of independence that we found attractive in one another.
