I'm tired of buying batteries. looked at the power packs and solar chargers, but they are crazy expensive for what they are. 12v solar panels are $20, 12v battery is $8, plastic box and the wire can't be too much. Anyone ever used one of the commercial packs or rigged up something home-made for extra battery life?
I have Moultrie D40s, but I think they all take the same plug-in.

I converted everything to solar a couple of years ago. I run 5 feeders for months.
In the long run a person will save lots of dough converting over. I found most of my conversions at spring sales when they were cheaper.

Same here. All our feeders are using Sunslingers, highly recommend those. I've got some that are 2+ years old on the original rechargeable batteries. Never a problem one.
