Could someone please tell me about this Walther?
Year, Value, History, etc.
I've enclosed some pictures.

It has 182960 K by the trigger.

Thanks, Terry

Nevermind. 182xxx is post war. If it were "Nazi" era, it would be eagle proofed. Not sure of exact date, but I think they were manufactured in France from 1951 on.

Theres a mint condition 182xxx on guns america for about $1100.

It has a "Crown" over an "N" on the barrel in the ejection port.
It also has the "Crown" over "N" on the slide just below the ejection port.
Thanks, Terry

That changes things. Its a prewar (1940 and before).

Is there any other proofs? An accompanying proof could tell the "history of the gun."

Additional proof to look for would be "RZM", "RFV", "DRP", or "PDM".

If there is no other proof, I think it might be a pre 1940 Nazi Police pistol which were Eagle C (I own one of these) or Crown N by itself.

Heres my Eagle C, link.

I've never had it priced, it carries to much story from my grandfather.

Your Eagle C is a nice looking gun. I enjoyed reading the history on your gun and your grandfather.

Mine has no other proofs besides the Crown-N's.

My dad picked it up at a pawn shop years ago so he didn't know the history either.

Thanks, Terry

Most PPs that were pre war were police pistols. As said earlier, the crown/n is the proof mark (N for tested for Nitro "Smokeless powder") before April 1, 1940.

Gun is probably pretty rare. A very good pawn shop find.

Saw your thread on another board. In contrast to whats being said over there, I am using Walther Pistols Models 1 through 99" as a reference. From that book, it is my understanding that Walther was not available for commercial purposes until they were manufactured at Ulm (the antler proof). This didnt start till after WWII .

It's a fairly early PPK. You can tell this by the front portion of the slide right under the barrel where the angled cuts are, and the fixed rear sight that was changed later to a drift adjustable one. Actually PP's and PPK's were available here in the US prior to WWII, they were sold through Stoeger. Do nothing to her, no refinishing, no hard cleaning, she is fairly valuable. She may even be one that was sold through Stoeger.
