He was a meanie and owned slaves, don't you know? I'm surprised it isn't a name of some black hero. Anything with European origins has to go. I've told my kids, their grandkids will learn in school that the Founding Fathers were all black, and an African explorer "discovered" America. Maybe they can call it "Ellison" (as in William), in honor of one of the early black pioneers?

They are under the mistaken belief that if not for Columbus discovering the Americas, the native Americans would still be living in peace and harmony, hunting buffalo and living off the land, or some sort of modern civilization based on tribal culture. Depends on who you ask.
More than likely it would be another 3rd world pit since it took all of us working together to build the best country in the world.
