What kind of bird is this? Check out this picture.

I thought it was an eagle for the last few days that it has been flying around and then I finally was able to zoom in on it and it is definitely not an eagle. Is it a hawk? I am not sure what kind of bird it is.

Thanks correct--Mississippi Kite. Come back every year and nest in the same sycamore tree. Seemed to be a bunch this year in the neighborhood.

In my neck of the woods, Kite numbers seem down this year. But, maybe I'm just comparing it to last year, when their numbers were way up.

They are very territorial. Watch your hat during nesting time.
