Are you keeping this gun forever or will you be selling it in a few years?
You'll get a better resale % back on the Wilson versus the Colt + custom work.
How many rounds and will they be full power 10mm loads?
If you are pushing it hard the Wilson may work out better in the long run.
Personally I voted Colt and modify but I can see some advantages to Wilson.
I plan to keep it forever; but I would sell it before I let my family starve.
Don't know how many rounds, so I want it built as tough as possible; but I will not purposely try to wear it out.
I purposely tried to wear out a gun....a Glock 26....damn was that a waste of ammo.
I will use my 10mm, but not abuse (on purpose).
If you are set on a 1911 in 10mm, definitely go for a model with the 6" long slide. The additional slide mass makes the gun much more a long term player; it won't prematurely shake itself loose. Another plus for 6" slide is more bullet velocity and longer sight radius; the way to go in 10mm. A very popular set up in a hunting gun.
I voted but only as a very ignorant 1911 gun lover. I've seen numerous pics of Colt Delta Elites and I've loved every one of them. They're just sexy to me. I don't even know much about the Wilson you mention. But hey, you didn't say we had to have experience with both to vote. Or heck, even one of them.
I vote Wilson. Nothing against the colt which is a sweet gun but a custom Wilson you only have one person to deal with if problems arise and wilson's are just really good guns.
