As some of you know, I've wanted a 10mm 1911 for a long time.
I'm down to 2 options, and I don't know which way to go...

-Buy a new Colt Delta Elite, and have it built the way I want.
-Order a Wilson Classic, built the way I want.

Either way, I'm out about the same amount of money.
Either way, I end up with an awesome pistol that I've wanted for a long time.

Which way should I go, and why???

Im right there with ya. Just wish I didnt have so much stuff on my wish list.

At any rate,... Delta Elite. I have read over and over and it seems most people who have own both (or at least said they have own both) will tell you the Colt shoots tighter groups.

that way if/when it goes wrong, you only have one factory/guy to b!tch at.

I personally would rather have a 10mm I built from scratch as opposed to a delta that I "built up".

I would go with Wilson. That way you are covered under their lifetime warranty. Depend on who you have worked on the Delta, you might have some problems that you probably won't have if you choose Wilson. If there's something wrong down the road, you won't have to figure out who needs to do the repair work, Colt or your gunsmith? Wilson builds good guns so you know you'll be getting a quality pistol either way.

I'd go with the Wilson basically for the reasons above... mainly warranty. If you're gonna have something custom, you might as well start out custom rather than have someone customize a factory model.. if that makes any sense.

I just want to know what you guys do that you can just go out and drop $2000+ for a new pistol. I must be in the wrong profession. I would take either

That is the 3rd option that I didn't list, mainly because the Delta is about the same price as buying a frame, slide, and barrel. Is it more work to start with something already assembled?
