Why Subsonic?

Okay I admit I have never shot or purchased subsonic rounds. Saw a boat load of them in 22LR today and just wondered why someone would choose them. Is it for lower sound?

Yes, especially with a supressor. Sometimes they are more accurate than high velocity, as well.

The Eley subsonics are definately quiet!

A dealer I used to frequent sold a lot of them for inner city coon and cat control!

I have some that are so damn quiet thru a suppressor that the bullet impact is louder than the firing.

Wow. Don't have a suppressor. I'll have to get some and give them a try.

I use them and shorts for dispatching animals in traps during season. No need for ear plugs.
